Dynamic Core Workout

For this workout all you will need is yourself, and an optional yoga mat. This workout focused on dynamic movements that target your core. I sometimes get bored of the same old core movements and like to switch it up a little and challenge myself. If you are a beginner I would suggest taking a peak through some of my other core workouts as you may find this one a little tricky and I don’t want you to hurt yourself!

We have a total of 5 exercises in this workout and you can structure the workout in a couple of different ways. You can either complete it in a circuit style – so do all the exercises in succession without taking a break until all 5 exercises are complete, then repeat the circuit a few times. Or, you could complete the designated amount of sets and reps of each exercise before moving onto the next. OR… you could set a tabata timer and do each exercise for a set amount of time and then rest between exercises (eg. 40 seconds “on” and 20 seconds “off”). It’s entirely up to you and what you feel like you’re capable of!

Ok, here we go…

  1. Mountain climber taps – this is like a normal mountain climber except you will be meeting your knee at around your belly button with the opposite hand and then switching
  2. Up-downs – start in a high plank position, then move to your elbows, and back to high plank and so on
  3. Frog planks – make sure you really control your movement here, try and avoid your belly sagging, keep everything tight, and pause for a second when you’re in the plank position
  4. Bear crawls – try and keep your back as flat and stable as possible and your knees close (but not touching!!) to the ground
  5. Table knee-ups – you’ll need a little glute activation here as well to keep everything stable and to prevent it from dipping!

If you’re unsure what any of these exercises are, here is my Instagram post showing how to perform all of them. There are plenty of other core exercises on there as well, just go and give @littlebitoflouise a follow so you have access to them all the time!
