Nut Butter Filled Clif Bar Review

Back at it again with another Influenster review post. This will just be a short one.

As you may know, I received a handful of products for free in Influenster’s latest VoxBox. I have already reviewed the David’s Tea, and the Protein Gummies that were in there (click the links to se those reviews!). Along with those two things, I also received Clif Bar’s newest addition to their collection: a Nut Butter filled Clif Bar.

Clif Bars scare me a little bit. For those who have had an unhealthy relationship with food, or disordered eating patterns in the past, you will be able to understand this. During my rocky relationship with food, Clif Bars somehow became a part of my list of “fear foods”. Maybe it was due to the higher amount of carbs, or maybe it was because I saw a fitness influencer at the time trash talk them. Regardless, ever since then Clif Bars have been an issue for me to consume – even though my eating habits are completely “normal” now.

So as you can imagine seeing a Clif Bar in my VoxBox freaked me out a little bit. Nonetheless, I was dedicated to trying everything that they sent me so I gave it a go after my tough leg workout yesterday. If you care about macros at all, this bar has 27g carbs, 7g protein, and 11g fat; this adds up to 230 calories, which for a post workout snack, isn’t too bad.

The flavour I was sent was “Chocolate Hazelnut Butter”. I’ll be honest, it didn’t taste much like anything other than sugar. The filling in the middle was a nice change from their usual, dense bar – it made it less of a workout on the jaw to chew. I would assume that the filling was the chocolate hazelnut butter, and I’m unsure of what the actual bar flavour was.

I managed half the bar before giving it to my boyfriend to eat the rest. He liked it. I also heard from a friend who received the same box that she loved it. I’d say that just like most things, it’s a personal preference.

Given my rocky relationship with Clif Bars, and dislike of anything that tastes overly synthetic, I likely would’t buy it with my own money. Though it did feel good to push past a silly little food fear and give it a try.

Until next time
